The story goes like this – during his pilgrimage to Mecca, Baba Budan discovered the rich flavour of coffee and the art of cultivating it in Yemen. Recognising its value, he brought it to his homeland.
Upon his return, he planted these beans in the hills of Chikmagalur, thus marking the inception of coffee cultivation in the country. The seven beans brought home by him became the foundation of India’s flourishing coffee industry. Baba Budangiri stands as a testament to his spiritual legacy and as the birthplace of India’s love affair with coffee.
