In my life, some of the fondest memories will be from my college years. I studied in Bangalore, a cosmopolitan city where people come from all over India. The breezy city feels like a melting pot of cultures. And my class was a perfect example of this, we had students from different parts of the country, from Bihar, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Himachal Pradesh to name just a few. Yes, we were diverse.

One of my classmates, Zikpuii, was from Mizoram, and she was particularly kind and welcoming. She would bring us Koat Pitha, a delicious fried rice cake with banana, which introduced us to the unique flavors of her hometown. She would talk about Aizawl, her home and the capital of Mizoram, very fondly, telling us stories about its beauty, people and culture. By the end of our college years, she even invited us to visit. A few of us instantly agreed and the ones who resisted were roped in with the bribe of the delicious Koat Pitha!

My experience of exploring Aizawl was truly special, something that I will never forget. Set in the lush hills of Mizoram, Aizawl the city dates back to the days of the great Mizo chiefs, Lalsavunga and Thanruma according to legend. They established villages in and around what is now the Raj Bhavan in the early nineteenth century.

Nestled in the hills, this charming city offers some stunning views of the surrounding landscapes, making it an ideal spot for nature lovers. The pleasant weather and the tranquil vibe all around is perfect for those looking for that awesome summer holiday.
